Today we had some more dance workshops going on with different types of music linked to different dance moves. Yet again, fun was had by all.
In the other hall we had a recycling workshop with a visiting artist, Laura Carle, who specialises in sculpture.
We used all types of rubbish ranging from bottles, to boxes and even some broken toys playing a huge part in our sculpture. The children made a skeleton base and then added items to create the body. So far we made a dad, a mum and we have started to make a child. These creations will be our recycled family.
Having sculptures made out of rubbish has shown the children that art can be created from anything, and all we need is a little imagination. The workshop has also shown the children different skills.
Everyone was focused and engaged in their learning.
Jacey asked if he could spend all day in the workshop because he enjoyed it so much. Max said he loved jumping on the plastic bottles to flatten them because it was something he had never done before. The Year 6 helpers have asked if they can return and be the helpers for the workshop on Friday, that is when we will finish the sculptures.
